PARK Rooftop Bar

PARK is an afternoon and evening place, and its opening hours decide whether it works on a port day. According to its official Instagram profile it opens from 15:00 to 02:00 Monday to Saturday and from 12:00 to 20:00 on Sundays, when it runs a 'Picnic' brunch session. Many day calls set all-aboard in the late afternoon, so on a weekday you may only get 45 minutes to an hour on the terrace before a 10-minute taxi back to the terminal. Sunday is the easiest day for a day-call visit. The sunset drink it is known for only fits if your ship sails late or stays overnight, or in winter, when the sun sets around 17:15 to 18:30. The terrace faces west, so evening light falls straight across it. It does not take reservations, and on summer evenings the best seats along the edge go well before sunset. From the ship it is about 2.2 km and 34 minutes on foot, finishing uphill. The simpler route is to walk 10 minutes to Santa Apolónia, take the metro Blue Line to Baixa-Chiado, leave by the Chiado exit, cross Largo do Camões and walk a few minutes west along Calçada do Combro. A taxi takes about 10 minutes. The entrance is the car-park entrance itself, with no obvious sign at street level; go in and take the lift to the top. Upstairs there is an open terrace with plants and wooden seating, an indoor bar for cooler weather and a short food menu. DJs play from the evening, and the crowd gets younger and louder after dark. Skip it if you have less than an hour to spare: the view is good but not unique, and São Pedro de Alcântara, ten minutes away, is free.
